…To Stay Focused No Matter What
Nehemiah 1-6; Philippians 3:12-14
”So on October 2nd the wall was finished – just fifty-two days after we had begun. When our enemies and the surrounding nations heard about it, they were frightened and humiliated. They realized this work had been done with the help of our God.” Nehemiah 6:15-16 NLT
How to stay focused when pursuing change…
- Tackle change one piece at a time.
“…each one repaired the section immediately across from his own house…” (Neh 3:28)
- Periodically remind yourself about the why.
“…Don’t be afraid of the enemy, remember the Lord…” (Neh 4:14)
- Be willing to fight for your change.
“…laborers carried on their work with one hand supporting their load and one hand holding a weapon…” (Neh 4:17)
- Identify and ignore
“…I am engaged in a great work, so I can’t come…” (Neh 6:3)
“I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made.
But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so
wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong:
By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my
eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.” Philippians 3:12-14 MSG
